Exploring common problems for practical solutions
At least quarterly, Massey Business School academics host half-day workshops focused on a specific topic for engagement. Academic experts lead conversations about cutting edge research and contemporary responses to dilemmas, while industry leaders highlight challenges and opportunities faced across various SME sectors in New Zealand. Through large and small group discussions, attendees explore new ideas and approaches to business strategy and operations, while discovering how to tailor new knowledge to their individual organisation. Topics for each workshop are developed from discussions among attendees, suggestions by academic staff, and in response to ongoing survey data of SME business leaders and managers throughout New Zealand.
Collaboration supporting two agendas
Academic staff continue to explore, research, and teach theory, while helping their students – the nation’s future business leaders and workforce – develop new ways of considering, articulating, and solving problems. Industry professionals continue to identify practical and complex challenges for study, while driving business in individual organisations. The synergies fostered through the BusinessFirstNZ approach provide opportunities for both communities to realise problems and collectively develop applicable solutions for advancing business prosperity.
